"Peter, son of Lawrence and Elizabeth (Shoemaker) LOMASON, was born in Sussex Co., N.J., Dec. 23, 1802, and was married to Sarah A., born April 28, 1802, died Sept. 5, 1868, daughter of Joseph and Christian Fox, of Lower Mount Bethel Township, Northampton Co., Pa. About 1847 they removed to the vicinity of Rochester, Mich., and settled on a farm. They are buried in the Rochester Cemetery. Their children were: 1. William Schooley, born Sept. 25, 1824; 2. Joseph Fox, born March 24, 1826; 3. George Green, born Aug. 8, 1829; 4. Isaac Shoemaker, born --; 5. James Kethledge, born May 31, 1833; 6. Philip Shoemaker, born Feb. 1, 1836; 7. Eliza ann, born 1840. The will of Peter LOMASON was made June 19, 1860, and names his children as mentioned above. He died Aug. 26, 1860."

"Thomas BUTLER, farmer, P.O. Seventy-Six, is a grandson of Simon BUTLER, who settled in Beaver County about the beginning of this century. He was of Welsh descent and came here from the eastern part of the state. He had six children: Eliza, Benjamin, Simon, Sarah, Peter and John. Benjamin was born here and married Jane, daughter of Thomas and Catherine McElhaney, and now resides in Alabama. His wife died in Beaver County. Their son, Thomas, subject of this sketch, has lived all his life in Beaver County with the exception of a short time spent in California. He owns 230 acres. He is married to Sarah A., daughter of Samuel Morgan. They have had seven children: Emma J., Benjamin, Samuel M., John T., Charles H., and Clara K., living, and Mary E., who died at the age of fourteen. "Mr. [Frederick] Butler and Miss Lettie Butler were wedded in the month of December, 1875, and the marriage has proved one of mutual happiness. They have a fine family of five children living-Ford (or Rutherford), Ivah, Bertha, Myrtle and Earl. One died unnamed.
Mrs. Butler is a daughter of Peter and Sarah Jane (White) Butler. Her father was born in Allegheny, Pa., and her mother was also a native of that State. The father was a farmer by occupation and was married in his native State. In 1868 he came to Illinois and settled in Young Hickory Township. They are enjoying the declining years of well-sent lives in the peace and comforts of a cozy home. They are the parents of eight children--Rachael, Mary, Jane, Minerva, Charlotte, Lettie, Peter and Eva."

Sarah Jane WHITE
There is no PROOF that Sarah Jane White was the daughter of Thomas and Mary White of Beaver County, Pennsylvania. However, circumstantial evidence suggests that this is so.
In both the 1850 and 1860 Census of Beaver County, Thomas and Mary White and family were in the same township (Independence Township) as Peter Butler and family, enumerated just a few pages apart.
In both the 1850 and 1860 Census, Thomas White's birthplace was listed as Maryland, while Mary's was listed as Pennsylvania. In both the 1880 and 1900 Fulton County, Illinois, Census, Sarah Jane (White) Butler listed the birthplace of her father as Maryland and the birthplace of her mother as Pennsylvania.
In the 1840 Census of Beaver County, PA, the households of Simon Butler (father of Peter Butler) and Thomas White were listed right next door to each other (on page 88, Hopewell Township). Thomas White's household included two females age 10-15, and Sarah Jane would have been age 15 at that time.
In the 1830 Census of Beaver County, PA, the households of Simon Butler (father of Peter Butler) and Thomas White were enumerated one page apart from each other (pages 318-319, Hopewell Township). Thomas White's household included one female age 0-5, and Sarah Jane would have been age 5 at that time.
In the 1820 Census of Beaver County, PA, the households of Simon Butler (father of Peter Butler) and Thomas White were enumerated on the same page (page 103, Hopewell Township).

"Frederick A. BUTLER is a native-born citizen of this county and is now an important member of its farming community, owning and ably managing a finely improved farm within the corporate limits of Farmington. In this town of his birth he is a leader in social and political circles, and he has here a very handsome residence on East Fort Street.
Mr. BUTLER is the youngest son of one of Farmington's oldest settlers. He was born on his father's homestead, January 9, 1850, and was reared and educated here, completing his education in the High School. He was bred to the life of a farmer, and having a natural taste for the calling he adopted it for his life work when he arrived at years of discretion. He owns a sixty-acre farm within the corporate limits of Farmington, which is under excellent tillage and is amply provided with neat and well-ordered buildings. Besides this farm he has an interest in two hundred and ten acres of land, in partnership with his brothers Charles C. and Cornelius B. His career as a farmer has shown him to be sharp, practical and a good manager. He conducts his work in a business-like manner, and so as to secure good returns, and the income that he derives from the cultivation of his land is very satisfactory. He is actively interested in all that pertains to the welfare of his native township, and no one is more zealous in promoting its interests than he. He is a keen politician, keeping himself well informed in regard to party movements. In his views he is a decided Republican, and in 1890 his political friends came within four votes of electing him Mayor of Farmington.

"PETER BUTLER DIES
Peter Butler passed away Thursday afternoon, Nov. 20 at the home of his son Cleve Butler south east of town. Mr. Butler had been in failing health for the past year and was taken seriously ill with a heart attack the first of last week.
Peter Butler, son of Sarah Jane (White) and Peter Butler was born in Beaver County, Pa, Sept. 2, 1858 and departed this life Nov. 20, 1930 aged 72 years, 2 months and 18 days. In 1867 the family came to Fulton County, Illinois, locating on a farm 5 1/2 miles south of London Mills where Mr. Butler has lived his entire life. On Oct. 1, 1885 he was married to Emily Pethenia Cline, who preceded him in death Jan. 3, 1925. To this union seven children were born, all of whom are living.
Mr. Butler was one of a family of ten children, two of whom, an only brother Francis A., and a sister Martha Alice, died in infancy. Three other sisters have also passed on before; Mrs. Minerva McCoy of East Liverpool, Ohio; Mrs. Mary Butler of Farmington and Mrs. Rachel Spence of London Mills. Those left to mourn his loss are the immediate family, Lena Bell Ponder of Rock Island; Blanche Mable Schisle; Wm. Wilson Grover Cleveland and Charlotte Auverne all of London Mills; Leah Olo Dowell, Fairview and George Dwight at home. Four living sisters, Mrs. Jennie Berry of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Charlotte Hayslip and Mrs. Letitia Butler of Farmington and Mrs. Evaline White of Herman. Eighteen grand children and three great grandchildren.
Mr. Butler had made his home with his son Cleveland the most of the time since his wife's death five years ago. He was a kind and loving husband and father, a good neighbor, a patient sufferer during his late illness and leaves a host of friends who mourn his passing.
A precious one from us has gone. A voice we loved is stilled. A place is vacant in our home. Which never can be filled. It seems sad that one so cherished should be taken from his home. His words and acts of kindness must live in memory alone.
The funeral services were held at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the Lutheran church. Rev. Jos. Hogenboom officiating. Mrs. Julius White and Mrs. George Young had charge of the music with Miss Margaret Young as accompanist.
The casket bearers were Lester Blout, Dwight Blout, Otis McMahon, Leo White, George Simmons and Gus White. Interment was made in Lutheran cemetery.
Those who attended the funeral from a distance included Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Raymon and son Junior of Rock Island; Mrs. Annie Austin, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Austin, Asa Austin and Mr. Hird of Freemont, Mich.; Mrs. Frank Flood of Chicago." "LONDON MILLS, Jan. 7. (Special) - Mrs. Emily Pheonia Butler, 62 years old, and a resident of this community her entire life, died at her home near London Mills Jan. 3.
Mrs. Butler was born near London Mills Dec. 20, 1862. She was a daughter of Lewis and Sarah Cline. Her parents preceded her in death several years ago. She made her home with Thomas Spear and Mathew Beer until she was united in marriage to Peter Butler of this place, Oct. 1, 1885.
To this union were born seven children, namely Lena B., wife of Edgar E. Pouder of Rock Island; Blanche M., wife of Arthur Schisler of Fairview; William W., Grover C., Charlotta A., wife of Thomas A. Gentle. and Leah, wife of Oscar C. Dowell, all of near London Mills, and George D. at home. There are fifteen grandchildren.
She is also survived by two brothers and two sisters, namely George W. Cline, Pequot, Minn. and Lewis J. Cline of Fairview; Mrs. Anna Austin, Fremont, Mich, and Mrs. Bessie E. White of Lewistown, Ill.
She was a kind and loving mother and a friend to every one who knew her.
The funeral services were held Monday afternoon. Rev. S. Kneebone officiating. Songs were sung by Mrs. Julius White and Mrs. Guy Ogle, accompanied on the organ by Miss Marie Mateer. Pallbearers were Lester Blout, Leo, Gus and Ward White, George Simmons and Otis McMahon.
