Descendants of Johannes KINSINGER (ca 1735-1788)

Notes

2. Johannes KINSINGER

Nancy Kinsinger Manschott (1878-1960) left the following record of her grandfather Christian KINSINGER's "six brothers, all lived in Ohio: Joseph, minister, married an Augspurger; Daniel died in Pennsylvania crossing the plains; Sam, married an Augspurger; Peter; Jacob; John, stayed in Germany." There appears in the Weisenheim am Berg records a birth of Daniel KINSINGER to Johannes and Veronica in 1804 and a death in 1805.  No record has been found to substantiate the claim that a son Daniel survived infancy and died in Pennsylvania.

There is, however, a Daniel KINSINGER, age 60, born in Germany, listed in the 1870 census of Butler County, Ohio (Lemon Township, p. 199B) who has not been connected to the families in this book. Also, the only other KINSINGER in the 1840 through 1880 censuses of Butler County, Ohio, who has not been connected in this book is a James KINSINGER, who appears in the 1870 census (Milford Township, p. 320) as age 31, born in Pennsylvania.

Hermann Guth states in AMISH MENNONITES IN GERMANY, 1995, that Veronica IMHOFF of the Wilensteinherhof was probably the daughter of Peter IMHOFF (born 1730-1735) and his second wife Katharina Roggy (pp. 190-192).  If true, then she was a sister to Joseph IMHOFF who married Johannes KINSINGER's sister Magdalena.

4. Jacob KINSINGER

Jacob KINSINGER may have married more than once.  According to Herman Guth's AMISH MENNONITE IN GERMANY, Jacob's wife was Elizabeth Roggy.  However, the marriage record for Veronica KINSINGER (15 August 1821) lists her mother as Elizabeth with a last name that does not look like Roggy (it appears to end with the letters "--win").
