[NOTE: The above record lists Isaac Holland's birth as 13 Apr 1770, but the Holland Bible record in Delaware lists Isaac's birth as 13 Apr 1771.  It is not know whether 1770 or 1771 is the correct year.]

Two different Isaac Hollands resided in Putnam County, Georgia, during the 1810-1820 time period, and it is understandable that many researchers have confused the two Isaacs as being the same person, but they were not.
The 1817 Putnam County, GA, tax list reveals that there were indeed two Isaac Hollands living there at the same time -- one in Capt. Berry's District, with 25 acres, and the other in Capt. Rose's District.  The 1820 Putnam County tax list reveals only one Isaac Holland present (the one with 25 acres).  This Isaac was almost certainly the "other" Isaac Holland, who was from Nansemond County, Virginia, and whose full name was Isaac Odom Holland.  His parents were Joseph Holland and Elizabeth Odom of Nansemond County, VA, and his marriage to Abby Valentine took place in Gates County, North Carolina, 9 Aug 1805.  Isaac Odom Holland died by 1824, as Lawson & Margaret Holland of Jasper County, GA, were assigned guardianship of Mary H. Holland, orphan of Isaac O. Holland, on 12 Jan 1824.  The orphans of Isaac O. Holland of Jasper County drew land in Lee County in the 1827 Georgia Land Lottery.
"Our" Isaac Holland was not listed in the 1820 Putnam County, GA, tax list, because he and his family had gone to Tennessee by this time.  The names of Isaac Holland, Samuel Holland (his son), and Drury Kendrick (his son-in-law) all appeared on the 1819 tax list of Rhea County, Tennessee.
Further evidence that "our" isaac was no longer in Georiga in 1820 is the fact that the Isaac Holland listed in the 1820 Census of Putnam County, GA, had no boys under age 26 and no girls under age 10 in his household at that time.  This was almost certainly Isaac Odom Holland, as "our" Isaac would have had 2 girls under age 10 at this time (Cynthia, Julia) and three or more boys still living at home (Erastus, Orlando, James).
So far as is known, Isaac Odom Holland was not related to "our" Isaac Holland (who came from the Sussex County, Delaware, and Worcester County, Maryland area).  Several researchers over the years have listed Isaac Odom Holland as the husband of Amelia Brewington, but this is incorrect, as the Bible record proves that it was "our" Isaac Holland who married Amelia Brewington.
There were a number of deeds recorded for Isaac Holland in Putnam County, Georgia, during the 1820's, most of them for town lots in Eatonton.  It is almost certain that these were all transactions involving Isaac Odom Holland, because "our" Isaac Holland was in Tennessee during the early 1820's and then in Monroe County and Muscogee County when he returned to Georgia sometime after 1824.
As if the confusion between these two Isaac Hollands were not enough, there was also another Isaac Holland in Gaston County, North Carolina, which was part of Lincoln County, NC, prior to 1846.  Some researchers have erroneously concluded that Isaac Holland of Putnam County, Georgia came from this Holland family, but there is no evidence of any such link.  The one piece of data which may have given rise to this misconception is that a Nancy Holland married Thomas Wynn in Putnam County, Georgia, in 1822, and this Nancy listed North Carolina as her birthplace in the 1850 Monroe County, GA, Census.  However, this Nancy was not the daughter of Isaac Holland and Amelia Brewington, as some have assumed.  Probate records in Putnam County clearly establish that she was related to a different Holland family; she was probably the daughter of Sewell Holland (no known relationship to our Hollands).  "Our" Isaac Holland's daughter Nancy married David Day.
Finally, some records have mistakenly listed Tennessee as the place of birth (1770) and marriage (1790) of Isaac Holland, but it was not until much later (probably about 1817) that Isaac was in Tennessee.  Prior to 1812 when both his son Samuel and his daugher Hannah married Kendrick brother and sister (Tabitha and Drury), land records establish that Isaac and Amelia were in Hancock County, Georgia.  They were in Hancock County as early as 1802 when they sold land there.  In the 1850 Census of Russell County, Alabama, Samuel Holland listed Tennessee as his birthplace, but this is most certainly wrong.  In the 1860 Census, Maryland was listed as his birthplace, which is much more likely to be accurate.
The evidence that Isaac (and Amelia) came to Georgia from Delaware and the eastern shore of Maryland comes from the following birthplaces listed in census records:
1850 Russell County, AL: Nancy Day (daughter of Isaac Holland), age 53, born Delaware
1860 Russell County, AL: Samuel Holland, age 69, born Maryland
1860 Monroe County, GA: Amelia Holland, age 88, born Maryland
1880 Monroe County, GA: Isaac H. Askins' mother (Amelia Holland, born 1800) born Maryland
1880 Troup County, GA: Thacker Holland's father (Samuel, born 1790) born Maryland
1880 Bastrop County, TX: Erastus Holland's father (Isaac) born Delaware; Erastus Holland's mother (Amelia) born Maryland
1880 Callahan County, TX: John R. Kendrick's mother (Hannah Holland, born 1794) born Maryland
1900 Census, Hamilton County, TX: Amelia (Kendrick) Johnston's mother (Hannah Holland, born 1794) born Maryland

39. John HOLLAND

It is not certain if "our" John is the one who married Eliza Greer.  What is certain is that "our" John is NOT the John Holland who married Elizabeth Walker in Putnam County, GA, on 16 Jan 1812.
The John Holland who married Elizabeth Walker was John Rickman Holland, the son of Thomas Holland and Phebe Rickman of Nansemond County, Virginia.  This John Holland was the John R. Holland who appeared on the 1820 Putnam County, GA, Census, and who drew land in Dooly County in 1821.  He was sold land in Putnam County, 17 Jun 1815 by his father-in-law Thomas Walker (Putnam Couny, GA, Deed Book D, pp. 198-199).
