Descendants of James HOLLAND (167?-1734)

Notes

8. Elizabeth HOLLAND

Peter, Comfort, and Naomi Foster were named as heirs in the will of their grandmother Elizabeth Neill, written in 1771.  The following record proves that Elizabeth Holland was married (to a Foster) by 1755, thus disproving the year of birth (1771) which appeared in the family Bible.  A birth year of about 1735 is estimated for her.  The birth year of 1771 was an impossibility anyway, since her father William had died 20 years earlier.

[The following record in 1799 says that William died "about 12 years ago," which makes for a death date of about 1787.  The Bible record lists 1767 as William's year of death, but that is almost certainhly incorrect, as he was born in 1746 and was the father of five children, one of whom was still a minor in 1799.]
