FORSYTHS OF FAYETTE CO, PA.
William FORSYTHE, b. c 1718 in Ireland, d. 1800, Wolf's Harbor Plantation, Jefferson Township, Fayette Co., Pa.  He is a brother of James and John FORSYTHE who came to Chester Co. in 1739, and may be closely related to the Ohio families recorded on 35-1 and 35-2.  He married Elizabeth Johnson.  There were 11 children, the first 8 were born in Chester Co., Pa., and the next 3 in Harford Co, Md.  (The note that Jacob, #5, was born in Ireland is unexplained--it might properly apply to his wife.)  William purchased land in Pa. from the Indians for 2 cows, a bushel of salt and a gun in 1769, and built a stone house facing the Monongohela River in 1775.  The house is still standing and title to the land has never left the family.  It is now owned by Joseph Bailey FORSYTHE, #70.
