  There is no PROOF that John Byrum was the son of William Byrum, but proximity in the census suggests that this is so.

JOHN BYROM/Byron of Warren Co, KY
Private in Capt Rose's company, Col Tennan's regiment, NC mil,
for 6 months from 1780
Pension issued 28 Jan 1834, Book E, Vol 7, page 36.
26 Nov 1832, John BYRAM of Warren Co, appeared, age 66 years;
Entered service, Granville Co, NC, about one month or six months
before Charleston, SC, was surrendered by Gen Lincoln to Sir Henry Clinton;
Raised in Granville County.  Was substitute for Thomas Bradford.
Marched from Granville to Charleston, being one week on Cooper River, to build fort at Lampree Point.
Taken prisoner at Charleston, 12 May, remained 8 days;
Drafted under Col James Taylor and Capt Nathaniel Walton
marched to Fayette on Cape Fear River, then Raft Swamp, then Stoney Point about 20 miles from Wilmington, under Gen. Butler and Gen. Rutherford.

25 Nov 1833, John BYRAM, age 66, appeared.  Entered service in spring of 1780, he thinks.
